Meet Mindi

Professional book editor and proofreader

As an avid reader growing up, I felt the pull to pursue a deeper understanding of the written word in my education. I studied English at Texas A&M University and had the opportunity to begin my editing journey by working with college students.

When I made my way into book publishing in 2017, I did a deep dive into the Chicago Manual of Style to build my expertise on the current standards. In an industry that's always changing, my research and continued education never stops. I work with independent authors, hybrid publishers, and traditional publishers at various stages of the publication journey, so each manuscript brings with it a unique experience. The diversity from story to story is one of the joys of the job!

In 2021, I stepped into the magazine world. I am a copyeditor for D Magazine and Mähj, where I review the work of incredibly talented writers and editors. This magazine work has required an expertise in AP style, which has further broadened my understanding of the nuances of English and the differences in style guides.

My journey to editing.

Your story is safe with me.

I've always loved getting wrapped up in a good book, eager to know what happens next. My goal is to help you deliver that kind of experience to your readers without the distractions of typos and dangling modifiers.

The undertaking of writing a book is no small thing. I understand the time, energy, and care you've poured into your manuscript, and I don't take that for granted. I want to come alongside you in your publishing journey so you can see your vision come to life.

My aim is not to change your writing but to remove the distractions so that your writing can shine. I want to preserve your unique voice and style, even if that means throwing a few of the "rules" out the window. The creative license is yours!

Life outside of editing.

What I'm passionate about.

I was born and raised in Texas, and I now live in the Texas Hill Country with my husband and our two children. Life with small kids means we spend a lot of time outdoors. On the weekends you'll find us exploring local parks or going to farmers markets, usually with a cup of coffee in hand.

My hobbies in my personal time include baking, needlework, and drawing. I also enjoy finding new DIY projects to tackle around the house. I love to create in all forms!

I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of genres, and I enjoy fiction and nonfiction alike. Some of my personal favorite genres to work on are historical fiction, mysteries, and women's fiction.

Professionally, I'm passionate about providing a positive editing experience for authors. I aim to be accessible and communicative so that authors don't hesitate to voice their concerns or questions. I want to work alongside each author to meet their individual goals and desires for their publishing journey.
